Little known fact about me. I didn’t go to prom. Seriously. Not Junior Prom, not Senior Ball, I did go to the sophomore hop, but I think that was because it was 70’s themed and that was just fun. Anyways, back to why I didn’t go to prom. It wasn’t because I didn’t have a date, or because I was a social outcast. I was actually in a volleyball tournament at my Point Loma Nazarene University that weekend and about 90% was already at college in my head anyways, at the time it made a whole bunch more sense to go to PLNU for the weekend than party it up at Ball. Looking back, do I agree with my 18 year old self? Well I did until I saw how awesome this young lady and her date did and how much fun they were going to have. You all made me a little tad bit jealous.

Miss S. and Mr. J are the most adorable couple I have seen in a while. They have been dating all 4 years of high school, and that is like an eternity in adult years! I commend that type of commmitment! Anyway, they wanted some special images for the memories that they were making on this night, one of the culminating celebrations of their high school days ending. Mr. J is heading off to Gilroy to rock the football world and Miss. S staying close to home and going to school in San Francisco to study Law. Wow, it was like as I looked at these to I just saw “bright future” across their forheads.

Luckily that didn’t show on any of the pictures and they just looked awesome! Hope you enjoy your sneak peek guys and hope you had a blast at the prom (and yes, I am still a little jealous!)

I was thrilled to meet Mr. W and his beautiful family yesterday. He is a cutie with the biggest brown eyes. He was such a happy little guy going from set-up to set up and I could just tell that he was working hard to figure it all out. Sooooo cute!

Here is a small sample of our shoot! Enjoy!

I have made it a seasonal tradition here at kristy lynn photography to highlight some of my favorite images from my sessions and give my awesome clients an opportunity to win some loot. And Spring 2009 is no different. So here it is, you have been sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for it, the sleepless nights spent agonizing in anticipation can now cease. I am officially announcing the beginning of my Spring Blog Contest!

So here is the deal, you vote. Once per computer. I would have tried to make it so you can vote daily but that poll program does not exist in my world. So the rules are that you get one vote per computer (I have some pretty technologically advanced IP address monitoring and I will be watching for any kind of funny business!).

What does this mean for you? Well if you want to win this contest you either need to go out and buy a ton of computers OR you have to email your friends and family and strangers and people you have met once and tell them about this awesome contest.  I never said it was going to be easy but I do promise it will be worth it. By the way the voting will continue until June 1, 2009 so you have plenty of time to bug everyone you know as well to make sure that they cast their vote.

In the past I have only given prizes to the first place winner of the contest. And, well, I just don’t think that it is cool that only one person wins. So… for this contest there will be multiple winners (you are all winners in my book though) and multiple prizes.

Prizes? You say. Yes, PRIZES! YAY prizes!

1st place will receive a free future session and $150 print credit to go with it. Yep that is a prize valued at $250. Crazy amazing, right?

2nd place will receive 16×20 wall print of their choice from their session (a $130 value).

3rd place will receive an 11×14 wall print of their choice from their session (a $90 value).

So here are the images that are up for your consideration. Happy voting!

When going through these images for one of my recent baby session just before I sent the gallery to mom and dad I ran across this image. At first glance I think I passed it up. I don’t know why. And I don’t know why it hit me so powerfully today. So powerfully that it made my stomach jump just as it does when something really really cool is happening in my life. So powerfully that I felt kind of giddy just looking at it. And if that wasn’t enough photography dorky-ness for you, I left this image up in photoshop last night when I put my computer to sleep for the night. So this image was the first thing I saw when I woke trusty computer up to share a cup of coffee with me. And this image was still so powerful that I felt those same tingles and my stomach leaped a little.

I hate to give any one image that much of an introduction because you may look at it and think, “gosh, that is not the beeezzz-neeezzz” (p.s. I know know why I just used that word, but it sounds cool right now, lol). Or you could look at it and think, “well it is kind of cool.” But that the nature of art, what touches me may not touch you quite as powerfully, or it may touch you even more powerfully. You never know. But what I do know is that I have the best job ever. I love that what I do makes my stomach leap and makes me giddy when I see powerful images. I love it!

These lovely people are the parents of a really great friend of mine. Her and her sister bought them this session as a Christmas present a few months ago.  And this is their dog, buddy.

I really enjoyed hanging out with the three of you. It was fun to see some old pictures of your daughter and to really see how much she takes after you. And it was also really great to get to take some shots of Buddy. Thanks for letting me exercise my creative muscle on some of these too!

Monica Graduates. YAY!

May 17, 2009

So apparently it is frowned upon to refer to my friend Monica as Dr. Monica. She has a Juris Doctorate but I guess that doesn’t so much make her a doctor as it makes her a. really really smart (like graduating with honors smart) and b. just about the coolest person I know.

I emensly enjoyed my weekend getting to celebrate with Dr. Monica (hehe, it is my blog, I can do whatever I want!) on her graduation from Gonzaga School of Law (and in case you didn’t know, Gonzaga is a top tier law school in America, I told you she was really really smart). And I have a feeling that everything I have said has embarassed her so far, but she has chuckled and handle my expressions of pride with grace. Because that is just Monica.

So congratulations my friend. You have earned it. You have REALLY earned it. Enjoy the last few hours before the studying for the bar exam commenses. And remember find someone you can ask your really stupid questions, it is critical to your success!

In the midst of my celebrations I got to take some pictures of Monica and her family so I thought I would share the pretty pictures.

Love ya Mo!

This is a beautiful family! I had such a great time just enjoying the moments of this photoshoot. Little Miss M is 14 days old today and is a beauty for sure. Her older and very awesome sister is 3.5 years old and I gotta say she impressed me with her sass! There was not a lack of smiles and laughs today at the Y. household!

Thank you so much for letting be a part of your family today. And thank  you so much for allowing me to capture your memories! Here is your sneak peek, I will be in touch soon!

A year and a half. It is quite the accomplishment for a little guy. Just a mere 18 months ago yesterday we were the proud parents of a new baby boy and we had no idea what was in store for us. And we have found he as brought so much joy, so many laughs, some sleepless nights, a new part of my self-identity (MOM!), and more love than I could have ever imagined was humanly possible.

So heres to you little man, who won’t be little for too long.

I love babies. And I love my friends. So what could be better than hanging out with friends who just had a baby. Um, nothing.

Mia is 6 days old today. And she is perfect. No really, perfect. She sleeps like an angel, she just chills through toddlers running (i.e. screaming) though the house. And she lets me get awesome shots of her for hours on end. Really perfect.

I went for a slightly different feel for this shoot. I love babies in their natural habitat. I love taking pictures of them with their stuff, their blankets, their mommie and daddy, and in their home (with all of its glorious natural light). This is my passion. So, if you love these as much as I do, talk to me about doing a lifestyle session. I would love the opportunity to get some creative images of you that are just incredibly real!

Love you W. family! Hope you love these!

I wish I could say that my 4 men were all enthralled reading my most recent blog post, or even enthralled as they were perusing my website and it’s various galleries. While they are all in great support of my passion and love for photography, they are not looking with awe at my work here. No, they are looking (glued) to youtube. In fact here I believe that they were watching, “The Best Cat Video You Will Ever See.” And while snapping a few images of them, I got a chance to take a look, and I gotta tell you, it was pretty darn funny.

I wanted to give you this little glimpse into my life. You know, it is really these moments that we will treasure when we get old. When our kids have all moved away. When we have moved away from friends. When the enevitable happens. It is the small moments that make up each day that will fill our hearts with inmeasureable love and peace.

So take time each day to treasure the moments. I promise that you won’t regret it.

And here the “business” part of this random post. I am going to be having a new blog contest coming up really soon. So stay tuned for the details, my friends. It is going to be a good one!

Blessings,

kristy lynn
