Most people do a bunch of cleaning and reorganizing in the spring, “the spring clean!” Well I guess I am a little behind on the times because I am going to do a late summer/early fall reorganization, haha. So things are going to change a little around here.

I am going to be revamping my collections, adding some new products, and making things all around a little bit more awesome!

But in the meantime if you would like to lock in my current pricing just the way that it is make sure to email me in the next couple of weeks. My current pricing will be valid until August 15, 2009.

And as always, these posts are way better with a picture, so here is a pretty picture…

First of all let me start out by saying that I LOVE my clients. I have the best clients ever. No kidding, the past few months have been so amazing. I have been growing so much and I know that a lot of it can be attributed to my awesome clients.

So looking back I realized it was time for another blog contest! I love these because it is fun to look back and remember these sessions.

With every one of my contests there are always prizes. Everyone is a winner in my book, but this is a fun friendly way to highlight the best images from each session and to gift a little extra to the family with the most votes at the end. This time the prize is going to be really awesome. Check out this flyer:

holiday minisession 2009

It is getting to be the time where we have to think about our Holiday cards. I know, I know it is only the end of July. But the dates fill up fast so planning ahead is the best way to ensure that you will have that perfect shot for your Holiday card. And the lucky winner of this contest will be sure to have that perfect shot because the winner will be receiving a free mini-session on the date of their choice (out of the three dates listed)! Isn’t that an awesome prize!!! In the case that the client who is the winner is a long distance from me, the winner will receive the cards and prints from the previous session that we had together.

And for the rest of you, whether you are just visiting the site to cast your vote, or you are one of the clients in the contest, or you are just a random passer-byer who is looking for a photographer to capture your memories, these mini-sessions are a great way to make sure your Holiday cards are the talk of the town. Email me at kristy@kristylynnphotography.com if you are interested in booking one of the sessions or have any questions, can’t wait to hear from you.

And on to the contest! The voting is set up that you may only vote once from each computer. So the challenge is to get as many friends and family involved as you can (Facebook is a great tool for this, there is a link below the images to post this to your site). The voting will continue for one week from today and I will contact the winner to notify them of their prize!

And without further ado, here are the images.

Nichole and Gordon are getting married in October at one of the most beautiful locations in the Bay Area. And I am beyond super excited and privileged to be their wedding photographer. We met up yesterday at the De Young Museum in Golden Gate Park for a bright and sunny session ending up with a gorgeous sunset overlooking the Pacific ocean. What we got was fog, fog, and more fog! In fact when we got there it apparently wasn’t foggy enough so as we were walking around the fog decided to descend upon us even more. Being an East Bay person I kind of felt like it was January. I thought about curling up by a fire with a “Snuggie” and a cup of hot cocoa.

But Nichole and Gordon were unfazed. This is life. And the weather fit their personalities perfectly. You can describe me as not quite mellow but by the end of the session, their mellowness had rubbed off on me quite a bit. And I liked it. So much in love, simply. Loving looks came effortlessly. And capturing that love on camera was not very difficult at all.

Nichole and Gordon thanks so much for the awesome evening stroll in your “back yard”. I can’t wait for your wedding in a few months. Here is your sneak peek and I will be in touch soon!

What an adorable family! We met up in Martinez for a fun family session, and we had a lot of fun “trespassing” (not really!) and hunting for shade. Most of the time I like to do sessions in the evening during the so called, golden hour. But since we had kids for this session, it worked much better to shoot in the morning. And anytime after about 6:30 is a bit too bright for full light images. So shade is a mid-day photographers best friend.

The youngest one of the kids was a kick. Like most kids her age, they have figured out the “cheese!” smile. The one that dominates school pictures and I really do try to avoid. I am a fan of genuine smiles, the kind where your eyes smile too. So when trying to get Miss. A. to give me the genuine happy smile I look for I asked her sisters and brother how they get her to laugh. The told me that I had to tell her, “I farted!” No kidding, for the next 15 minutes or so I was farting left and right. Ok, not really, I didn’t really fart. But I had her convinced enough to smile for me. And also for her to ask, “did you really just fart?”

Haha! It was great!

Well that is enough personal confession time, here are your images, thanks for letting me capture your memories!

This little guy was born almost two weeks ago and was a dream to photograph. He was a great little model. The older guy is just about 6 weeks younger than my own little guy, so it was a blast seeing how similar they are but then how very different they are too!

Thanks for having me over today. And thank you so much for letting me capture your memories. I will be in touch soon!!

So not Cliché: San Francisco Engagement Photographer

When you live in one of the most undisputedly beautiful cities in the world (possibly even THE most beautiful) you often find that the central landmarks can become humdrum. The places that the rest of the world recognize as, “that IS San Francisco,” can become common place. And these locations are often thought of as Engagement session “clichés.” But yesterday, I got the awesome opportunity to go to two of these very places with Alexa and Kenny for their engagement session and I have got to say, it was anything but “cliché!”

We started our day at the Palace of Fine Arts. Recently renovated the scaffolding has been removed to reveal a gorgeous structure and an architectural masterpiece. The arches are grand, the grounds are gorgeous, and the light is phenomenal. But the real things that shined while we were there were Kenny and Alexa. There were about 12 (not kidding) other photographers roaming around the grounds looking for the perfect spot to get their shot. But in the midst of all of that, Kenny and Alexa effortlessly radiated love.

Alexa is a firecracker. Choosing San Diego for a new start after graduation. She closed her eyes and pointed to a spot on the map, her finger ended up on Bakersfield, but she thought better and went a little further southwest. Kenny was freshly finished with his time in the military and the two met. The fell in love, and five years later, we found ourselves talking about their wedding plans on Cape Cod (SO wish I was that wedding photographer!). And even talking a bit about what it will be like when the start a family.

We moved to Baker Beach. Again, often thought of where “everyone” does their engagement session. Heck, even my husband and I did ours there three years ago. But I have to say, with Alexa and Kenny, it felt fresh and new.

Alexa and Kenny, best of luck and tons of happiness as you begin your marriage. I am excited to hear about how it goes and see the pictures from it. And with our further ado, here is your sneak peek from yesterday!

Abby is an almost life long friend of mine. Pretty much all of my adolescent memories include her in some way, and man do I have some stories for you Will.

Will is the love of her life. Gosh, I get a little teary eyed even typing that.

After spending the day with the two of you I was blessed beyond belief to have been surrounded by your love for those brief hours. It is life in full circle. Abby and I would spend countless hours thinking, praying, hoping for the day when we found true love. It sounds cliche, but I do believe that neither one of us every gave up hope that we would both find what God had in store for us.

And she did, she found him. It was pretty amazing the chemistry that these two have. The gentle back and forth banter that showed that they both had jumped full force into this love. The look of excitement that was on both of their faced when we talked about October 17, 2010, oops I mean 2009. And the casual way that both of them gracefully reached for the others hand about 90% of the time we were together.

Blog readers, if you haven’t already figured it out, I am a fan of love. And so I couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend last night or really any night than being around these two. So much in love. So perfect for each other. Here is your sneak peek my friends. Talk soon!

And this is a special treat for me to share with you. My husband, Max, assisted me on this session for the first time ever. He has been nursing a love for photography for a few months now. We decided that there was no better audition for being an assistant of mine than to just jump right on in.

Thank you, Max, for coming along and for seeing things that I don’t. I love you!

My baby is growing up. I know that it is an inevitable fact of life that we get older, but for a mama it is hard. I have been doing great with it though. For the most part the past few months have been un-momentous. Like so un-momentous that the month “birthday” would pass and I would think about it like 5 days later. It was something like, “oh, hey Max, did you realize that Sawyer turned 19 months 6 days ago…weird.”

But this month is different. He is entering the 20′s of months. He is 4 months away from TWO years old. All that  used to remain of babyhood is fading. FAST. And he learns about 7 new words a day.

He mimics everything I say, in fact. Like the other day I was saying, “hey, you!” and he said, “ha ou.” So cute. So heartwarming. So tearjerking.

I love him.

So I attempted some day in the life type stuff with him. I love to do this. Get down on his level. Have him play with is favorite toys. Have him wear a very familiar outfit for him. Ahhhh…

What a crazy day! And since I am one for celebrating just about anything (the anniversary of the day you lost your first tooth, the day you bought your first ipod…) I am definitely one for celebrating a day as momentous as this. A day that will not arrive again for 100 years!

Seven.Eight.Nine.

Yay!

So, you who are still reading this… the first one of you who comments on this blog (and lives within 20 miles of 94596) then you will get a free session from me! Yay! A free session. That is awesome for a few different reasons. A. I don’t don’t offer free sessions, like ever, anymore AND B. that is a $100 value for you!

I am serious about this celebrating stuff.

Again, a very cool post is never complete with out a pretty picture. This is one from a session a while ago and I choose it for today because this girl knows how to celebrate!

While technically she is their first born, Miss H. is actually their third child. Before her came doggie number one and doggie number two. Most of the time when a mommy and a daddy bring home a new baby the doggie learns the meaning of outdoor dog house. But not in this case. I was pleasantly surprised to see that both the eldest and his buddy were solidly a very vitally important part of the family and that made me smile.

Miss H. you are surrounded by love and affection. I could tell that you are adored by your parents as much as is possible and I found myself completely shocked when I looked at my clock when I got to the car. I spent hours hanging with you today and they flew by like minutes, and that is pure joy to me!

Thank you W. family for letting me have a small part in capturing your memories. Here is your sneak peek. I will be in touch soon!
