I have known Scott for *years*. I actually don’t remember how long I have known him because I have known him for different things. I can’t remember if he was a friend of a friend first or if he was the guy who had my job before me first or if he was that guy I met while I was working at summer camp. What I do remember is that he was is one of the friendliest guys I know. So when I found out that he was engaged to Shannon I knew that I HAD to do that wedding. And I am excited privileged to say that they have chosen me to be their wedding photographer when they say their I do’s in January.

We met up at the Point Lobos State Reserve (gorgeous place!!!) and the first thing I notice about these two is that they are cute. I mean really cute. Like the kind of cute that makes you want to be cuter. At one point when I was working with them on posing on a bench they were sitting side by side and so I asked them to get into a comfortable position. I mentioned that they might want to just sit as they would sit if there wasn’t a photographer there and Shannon quickly said, “oh I would be sitting like this.” And she jumped up to sit on Scott’s lap. That kind of cute. The kind of cute that reminds you of new love and wanting to spend every moment with your loved one as close as possible.

I admire that kind of cuteness. And I am excited to share these images with my blog readers and Scott and Shannon. I can’t wait for January and I am secretly praying for a day as gorgeous as yesterday was, although in January it is a little bit of a long shot. Have a great rest of your weekend and I will be in touch soon!

I loved the movie Julie and Julia, not so much that I want to work my way through Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking, but enough that I was inspired to cook some more gourmet types of meals. What does this have to do with photography you might immediately think. Well hold on and you shall see!

So I asked my boys what they would like for dinner tonight and they replied, “chicken cordon bleu,” and “meatloaf.” So I decided that I would make chicken cordon bleu meatloaf. haha. This is a new to me thing. I looked it up, never saw a recipe for it and decided to do it on my own.

I started with ground chicken thighs added some fresh rosemary and thyme, a single egg some ground up cornflakes and some salt and pepper. I made a larger rectangle out of the mix and rolled up with some shredded swiss cheese and ham (see pictures below).

All the while I was also making Giada’s Asparagus Risotto. It was glorious. I have never made risotto before. Yummy.

So here is how it all relates to photography. The nerdy photographer in me decided to photo-document the process. I told you I am a little nerdy when it comes to this stuff.

So here you are. My semi-gourmet dinner in pictures. Hope you enjoy. And I hope that it inspires you to create some wonderfulness for those you love. And take pictures. You are creating memories in making dinners like this!

Here are all the ingredients (minus the champagne that was still chilling)

Here are the blanched asparagus spears. I have never blanched before. fun.

Risotto pre-rice. I chop onions well. Plus EVERYTHING is better with butter.

So much! Really I mean that!!

Three weddings in October. YES! I am in the process of designing a new website that will be the home base for all of my different “types” of photography, look for that in the next few weeks.

I have a NEW LOGO. That’s right! The cute pink box is being retired. I am kind of sad BUT I am really excited about the new direction of marketing and branding that will be going on over here.

October is almost here! Know what that means? It means that Think Pink is about to launch. Remember $50 of each boudoir session booked in October (to happen before January 31, 2010) goes to breast cancer research and education!

AND it is Fall, officially today! That means that it is the perfect time of the year for you to schedule a family photography session. Speaking of family photography sessions keep an eye on the blog. I have some awesome ones coming up.

There are some new awesome things going on here at KLP! I am excited to share them all with you.

And since no post is complete with out a picture. Here is another one from the crazy, awesome, amazing wedding of Connor and Kelly!!!

I am a diy’er. You know? A do-it-yourself-er. There is no lacking of awesome places where I could find pre-made Christmas cards for my clients. In fact this year, in an effort to save time and be more efficient I went on those sites and just didn’t find the just right thing for me (and ultimately for you!). I looked and looked which defeated the original intent on being more efficient and ended up deciding to do my own again. haha.

So I have designed 8 cards so far. I am sure that there are more to come. And what you see below is a sample of what the front of the cards will look like. With every card you have the option of it being a flat double sided card or we can turn it into a folded 4 sided masterpiece!

These can be purchased by anyone who has done a session in the past year or they can be a part of a session that happens this fall (the deadline for holiday card session is November 10, 2009 and the order must be placed by November 25, 2009). The cards come in packs of 25 cards and include envelopes. The color schemes can be changed and some of the other elements as well, be sure to ask if you have any questions.

So without further ado, here are the cards.

I still have some mini-sessions available as well as some room for full sessions. Make sure to email me today if you are interested, slots are filling fast!!

Yesterday I had the amazing privilege of being a part of the marriage celebration of Kelly and Connor. It was quite possibly the most fun I have had in a long time. The awesome group of friends and family that celebrated with Kelly and Connor were a blast to photograph and the party was raging in some crazy ways!

I met Kelly and Connor for the first time on Wednesday. Yeah, that means just 3 days before the wedding. And from the moment that I met them I was surrounded with a calm sense of excitement that showed both in the grace that they carried themselves with and the true love that they shared. It is blatantly obvious that these two are madly in love with one another. It is the kind of love that helps you to believe more in love. The kind of love that is contagious to those around the. And the kind of love that you know will be the driving force of their journey ahead.

Kelly and Connor I can’t thank you enough for first of all finding me somehow all the way from Manhattan. For taking the chance of hiring me without a single meeting beforehand. And the blessing of being a part of your simply beautiful day. From the choices you made for flowers to the incredible perfect dress for Kelly to the amazing Mexican food dinner this was a top notch event. Enjoy your honeymoon in Mexico and I will be in touch!

I have to start off with the shoes. THE SHOES. Manolo’s are the epitome of wedding day awesomeness.

My husband orchestrated a great Labor Day for us. Our kids, some friends and us went frisbee golfing at the Moraga Commons Park. In case you have no idea what frisbee golf is it is basically an beautiful walk interrupted by having to throw a frisbee disk at a chain thing that you have to aim for and make it in. I just call it family togetherness, haha.

Anyway, getting to the point, after the game we all went to this awesome water spray area that just rocks and I got to take some fun shots of the kids. You may have seen these on facebook already (btw, are you a fan? click here to go to my facebook fans page).

Here are the fun shots of the family. Hope you and your’s had a great no so much Labor Day!

I don’t know if I could be more excited about this announcement. You may not know this but October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I have decided that over here at Kristy Lynn Photography we are going to take this cause to heart. Starting October 1 we are going to launch a big fundraiser for breast cancer research and education. I have a whole page on my blog dedicated to why I feel this is so important (click here) but it comes down to the need for more research and education to happen so that we can find a cure.

The bulk of our fund-raising efforts are going to be in our boudoir photography but anyone can participate! It may not be a huge contribution, but our goal is to raise $2500!!! Really even as I type that out I have a little heart skipping because it seems like a huge number to me. We can do it, but we are going to need your help! Here is what we have planned:

1. We are going to do a month long boudoir fundraiser that is explained in this flyer:

finalblogthinkpink

So get to booking your session. Well wait to October 1st, but get to thinking about booking your session. You can even gift a session to someone, this would be a great way for you men to participate. And if you can not do a session yourself you can definitely share this flyer with people who might want to book a session and/or know someone who might. For more information about the sessions visit my boudoir blog.

2. We are forming Team KLP for the Komen San Francisco Race for the CureĀ® on September 27, 2009. I have never done one of these and have ALWAYS wanted to. In fact I really hope and plan to do the three day walk next year. This short 5k will just be the warm-up I guess. HAHA.

There are a few ways you can help with the Race for the Cure. You can join Team KLP. We are going to do the untimed 5k walk, so there will be no racing. In fact we are going to bring the stroller along and probably just stroll, so you DO NOT need to be an athlete to join us. You just have to have a heart for the cause. The registration cost is $30 and we ask that you make a goal of $100 for your fund-raising for the walk. You will have to register before September 17 and if you have any questions email me at kristy@kristylynnphotography.com. Another way you can help is that you can gift our team with a support donation. Email me with any questions about that as well.

And finally, if you have made it this far I am incredibly grateful for being able to use my dream of being a photographer for the cause of breast cancer research and education. I am excited to join with other photographers and wedding professionals in the Pink Initative. And I am excited to see what we can do! $2,500 seems like a huge goal but wouldn’t be awesome if we could blow our goal out of the water!!

Blessings,

Kristy Lynn

P.S. an easy way to get this out to your friends and family would be to share this on facebook using the icon below. email is great too!!!!

Can you believe it? September is upon us. Crazy to the 12th degree. I wanted to re-post my holiday mini-sessions information for anyone who has missed it. The dates are coming up fast. I still have some room this coming up Saturday, but September 19 is not full either. Reserve your time now before the time slips away from us.

The session deadline for holiday cards is November 10th this year. Meaning your session has to take place before that date if you want to use the images for holiday cards and or you need pre-Christmas delivery of prints and products.

So here is the info, can’t wait to hear from you!
