I have been BUSY! So busy that I haven’t even had time to blog. Bad me! But I promise you that the blog will pick up this week. I still have a bit of editing to do (and shopping and baking and wrapping and sleeping, sleep? what’s that? HA). Anyway, back to what I was saying. I promise to be a better blogger.

Oh and while I have you. I might as well give you a heads up that January 3rd is my birthday. Yay me! Well also Yay you! Why? You ask. Well I will kicking off something very new and very very special for us! I won’t give too much away but things are going to change big around here. BIG I tell you! Just you wait.

Now back to that super duper cute family of four from Santa Cruz. Melissa is a friend of mine. You might remember her from Jesse and Courtney’s wedding (here). She herself is a great photographer but she needed some family pictures done for her. So I made the trek down to Santa Cruz and captured these images of their adorable family.

Melissa, thank you so much for having me come on down. The light in SC is gorgeous. Your family is gorgeous. The mimosas were… you guessed it… gorgeous! Can’t wait to do it again sometime. SOON!

He’s 3: personal project

Three year olds are tricky. They are like the yin and yang of children. One moment they are the sweetest children you have ever met. They are polite. What can I say? I love this little man more than words can express. The days I want to pull my hair out definitely do not outnumber the days where I could just sit and stare in wonder at how awesome he is.

I thank God everyday for such amazing little men to share my world with. Today in particular I am thanking God for blessing me with Sawyer. He makes my heart and my face smile.

These are his official 3 year old pictures. There were some yin moments during the session and there were some yang moments. But my heart swells with pride over how adorable he is (and if Gap is reading this, he is available for a modeling contract, thankyouverymuch).

We got the LAST pumpkin at Trader Joe’s today. Can you imagine our surprise and horror when I asked at the front desk if they were out of pumpkins and they told me that they were out. I was just sad. I mean I know we could go to another store but TJ’s is our go to pumpkin place and we had to get home for the Giants’ game. LOL!

Well, leave it to Max to find a way to get home for the first pitch. There was one pumpkin that was decorating the sample area in the back. So we asked, “is that pumpkin for sale?” They told us yes (YES!!!) and we got our pumpkin and arrived home to hear Kelly Clarkson singing her heart out to the National Anthem.

You can’t keep a boy from his pumpkin and you can’t keep a daddy from his game!

We started out cleaning our pumpkin out and deciding what kind of face our jack-o-lantern was going to have.

We decided on scary!

Daddy doing his part while watching the game. He really is such a great man!

LOVE! A boy and his pumpkin.

And finally Jack in all his glory.

Having just experience the miracle of birth 10 weeks ago I was overjoyed to have the pleasure of capturing some of the first few moments of the L. family’s new miracle.

Freya was born just before 11:30am on Tuesday, October 26th. She beat me to the punch and arrived just moments before I got to her birth. As I arrived she was resting peacefully on mommy’s tummy. It was truly crazy because Mommy had her first labor pain just after 8am and 3 hours later Freya was here.

Totally unexpected. Big sister took quite a bit longer and was a week late. It seems as if Freya had another plan in mind. 3 days early and super short labor. Mommy was pleasantly surprised!

So while I missed the “main event” I did get to be there when mommy met Freya for the first time:

And one of the first moments big sister shared with little sister:

The head measured in at 13.5inches. WOW!

And Freya was a whopping 21.75 inches long!

I love it when mid-wives measure the weight with the old fashioned baby scale. There is just something so classic about this moment:

Finally some quite bonding time between Freya and Mommy. Just Love!

A special thanks goes out to the mid-wives who attended Freya’s birth, Beah Pederson, CNM and Jeannie Racik, MWA, from East Bay Homebirth Midwifery. They did an excellent job and made the whole experience both peaceful and beautiful!

Pumpkin day 2010: Personal Project

Most years the pictures are happy smiling children who are picking out their pumpkins. This we we have serious faces and a moody brood.

And yet I still wanted to share these pictures with you because they reflect who we are and what our day was like. :)

Here is our family picture from the day:

And finally a comparison picture of my little man Sawyer. On the left he is almost 2 and on the right he is almost 3 (he doesn’t seem too happy about that). haha

Happy Fall and Halloween to all you blog readers! Hope yours is happier than ours. LOL!

Every once in a while life hands you a gift. These two are just that. Not for what you probably think. While they are awesome clients and just cool peoples in general that is not why they are a gift. Sure they are funny and they kept me laughing the whole time we were together. Again, not the reason why I consider myself gifted by them.

They have cool names. Really cool names. Like the type of names that Jay Leno would highlight on his show kind of names. Her last name is Olive and his is Mayo. Really. Seriously. Olive-Mayo. I mean it is just a gift.

So when they told me their names my brain started reeling. I had visions of olives dancing in my head. Ok, maybe that last part took it too far but hey its my blog and I can say whatever I want.

Enough of that. Here is the image that I just had to do. Call me cheesy or kitschy… I LOVE it!

Get it? LOL! Olive + Mayo = Olive Mayo (well olive oil mayo to be exact but I “altered” it in photoshop)!!! I LOVE it!

And well I love these two. They rock. And I don’t say that lightly. I am so beyond excited to be their wedding photographer when they say their “I do’s” in July of next year. These two are just so in love it is incredible and I can’t wait to be a part of their day.

So Ms. Olive and Mr. Mayo (I can’t get enough of it) here is your sneak peek. I hope you are having fun in Disney as I type and I hope the rain stays away for you.

And just to prove how flippin’ awesome these two are I did a high five gif. I mean can it get any cooler?

Ok and one final comment regarding Ms. Olive. It just so happens to be her birthday today! So if you get the urge you can leave her some happy birthday love in the comment section below (click on the word comment). That would just be rad.

LeeAnna and Andy, what can I say? You two are some of the most amazing people I have ever met. Your love for each other is infectious. Your passion for life is inspiring. And your wedding was spectacular.

If you live in the Bay Area you know that we got one weird day of Fall rain on Sunday. Saturday was beautiful, Monday even more so but Sunday was weirdly dreary and wet. But that didn’t stop this celebration one bit. It was as if the universe said, “well guys it has to rain today but we will work around your schedule, okay?” Just before the ceremony it poured and just before the bridal party pictures it poured. I am positive though that I stressed the rain more than the bride and groom combined. They were so cool and collected through the whole thing.

The day started out with a small and intimate ceremony at a private residence and then we moved on to downtown Clayton for some bridal party shots. I then got to spend time time with LeeAnna and Andy and get some images of them. Then it was time for THE party. I mean there are no words to describe how much fun this celebration was. You guys did it up right!

My second shooter for this wedding was Erin Portch (all the way from Baltimore, Maryland no less!) of Charms of Life Photography. She did a great job capturing moments and details. I have marked her images below.

Here is your sneak peek LeeAnna and Andy. I hope that you guys are having the time of your lives in Jamaica. Talk with you soon!!!

Erin’s shot below:

These are a mix of Erin’s and my shots:

About a year ago I had a dream to gift a deserving couple with a wedding photography package. I wanted them to get to have the wedding of their dreams and not have to worry about the budget when it came to hiring a photographer. Gosh, I know how hard it be to balance a wedding budget, and I know for a lot of people getting every aspect to line up is impossible. Ashley and Chad were the winning couple of this dream of mine.

Ashley and Chad are two of the sweetest most laid back people I have ever met. I really could not have imagined two more deserving people when I thought of this idea about a year ago!

A little bit more about their day. These two were surrounded by their family. It was pretty funny when we started to talk about taking the family formal pictures someone from the wedding party said, “who isn’t family?!?”

Ashley wore a beautiful Alfred Angelo dress that was beyond perfect for her. And I kid you not they were curling her hair for almost 2 hours straight! I had the wonderful opportunity to be with them for a chunk of time before their ceremony and it was really nice not to be rushed and have tons of time to capture details and get to know everyone who was celebrating with them a little better.

This gorgeous venue is The Ridge Golf Course in Auburn, California. I was so beyond thrilled with the day working with their staff. They had every detail perfected and their staff was so beyond friendly and helpful. They made the day even better!!

My husband Max shot with me for this one but so did a dear friend Christie Provost (chick here to go to her website). I love my job but working with the awesome people I have the opportunity to work with just makes my job better than I could have ever imagined!

So without further ado, here is your sneak peek Ashley and Chad. I hope you are having a blast in Tahoe (I wish I was there!)

Max’s shots below.

Ashley had her two dads walk her down the aisle (biological and step). This sweet moment was captured by my husband Max these are probably my most favorite pictures he has ever taken!

Also Max’s shot.

Thanks again for such an awesome day Ashley and Chad. Feel free to leave some love for the happy couple in the comment section below!
