You might recognize these two. Back in the day, when I just just just starting out they were brave and let me practice on them. What is so cute about it is that they were just just just starting out in their relationship too. We joked that it was a tiny bit awkward last time when she asked him, “babe, will you take faux engagement pictures with me?”. Talk about bringing up the “M” word! haha.

But it worked out for them. A few years later and they are gettin’ hitched (like my ranch talk there?) this October! And I am so excited to be their photographer. I can’t wait.

We went to Borges Ranch for these. The knotty oak trees were abounding, the hills were still a tiny bit green, and it was hotter than heck when we started out. I can’t believe it has gone from a high of 62 and rainy to 90 degrees and blazing in like two days. CRAZY!!!

Thanks to you LeeAnna and Andy for being game for all our ideas. Here is my sneak peek from yesterday. Keep an eye out in the next few days for a second sneak peek from Max. He did so awesome as the second for this engagement session that he earned himself his own sneak peek. yay!

blog5Feel free to share you heart out on Facebook and if you leave me a comment I will buy you a cookie (well maybe not but I will want to buy you a cookie!).

Babies sleep. People always say that the first two weeks of life are crazy for the parents because they are lacking sleep and it is true that parents are often quite sleep deprived after a new little one arrives. That is usually because the baby is awake overnight but typically babies will sleep alllllll day. I like to take advantage of that. That is a huge part of my job. The sleepy newborn is one of my joys in life.

Yesterday baby N. wouldn’t sleep for me. Despite all of my best attempts he was wide awake. And really it was wonderful. He was a great baby and his being wide awake let me get some images I haven’t gotten before. I loved it.

He is gorgeous! I love his hair and his alert eyes. He has this beautiful olive complexion that looks like he has a great summer tan. I wanted to just snuggle with him all day!

Thanks K. Family for letting me be a part of N. first few days. Here is your sneak peek, I will be in touch soon.

As always I would love for you to leave a comment for the beautiful new family or for me. Thanks!!

This little guy was so much fun to hang with today. He is a little older than my typical newborn and that made for some less than sleepy times, but we managed to get him nice and drowsy and got some awesome images of him. The nice thing about a little bit of an older baby is that they are a little bit more filled out. I think he is adorable and I loved all that awesome hair. Mom and I joked about him having to get a haircut so early in life. Love it!!!

Thanks to you little Mr. P and your mommy! Here is a quick sneak peek of our session today!

“We go see big bird?” Sawyer asks just about every night. And the night where there is time and light left after dinner we all put on our walking shoes and head out the door. This isn’t just any stroll through the neighborhood, it is like a journey through the wilderness. I think so far on our walks we have seen peacocks (big birds), horses, cows, rabbits, German Shepherds, turkeys, frogs, and donkeys. And we don’t live in the country, lol! Really there is this awesome nature trail that runs along the canal by our house and tucked behind the creek there is a farm surrounded by urban sprawl. It is a journey into another time and place for us every night.

Night after night, as we would take our walks I would say to myself, “self, you really NEED to bring your camera out here one of these nights!” So I did. I followed as the 4 boys walked ahead a little and stopped and took pictures of all the things I had see, all the images I had created in my head on our nightly walks up to that point. This isn’t all of the images I got that night but a few of my favorites from our walk.

I hope you enjoy my tiny photo-documentation project.

Back in the day you might remember this thing called, “film.” You would buy rolls of it and if you were really old school you would hope that you loaded it correctly (the fancy cameras had an auto load feature, wow!).  Then you would take like 24 or 36 exposures (yes they were actually called that) and wait until you could get back to the store to drop it off and then wait again until it was developed so you could see your pictures.

Then the years go by and we got these fancy digital cameras with screens and live-view. And we all migrated quickly to digital-land. I mean, why not? For reals, there are some awesome qualities to digital photography. The instant gratification, the ability to shoot what-ever-the-heck-you-want-as-much-as-you-want and only keep the keepers. Digital is amazing.

But film is phenomenal. Film is beautiful. Film is classic. And my love affair with photography started with film. All those years ago in high school, film was it. Our old Pentax manual film SLR’s were rockin. I loved the creative control that I had with my film camera and the developing process.

Yesterday I pulled out the old trusty Canon TX and my 50mm 1.8 FD lens. I stopped by Target and got some film (yes, some stores do still sell film!!!). Wandered with Sawyer to a quaint little park and snapped some images. I took that roll to Costco (fancy, right?!?) and waiting an hour for them to process. Then I uploaded them from the disk to my computer and did a little photoshop magic on them. And there they are for you.

They are not masterpieces in the technical sense of the word, but I believe they are beautiful! I can’t wait to shoot more film. Actually I am in the market for a used film body that is a little bit more current that the trust TX (and one that will take all my fancy Canon glass that I have collected now). You will see more of my film adventures in the future.

I was beyond blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of Mary Anne and Lester’s wedding day this past weekend. I got to shoot along side Breck Sargent and be his right hand girl for the day.

Mary Anne and Lester had 14 attendants each! That is the largest wedding party I have ever seen and I know that this group had one huge party all day long.

We started off our day at the Westin San Francisco Airport. From there we moved on to St. Ignatius (the most amazing church in San Francisco, hands down). We did bridal party pictures at the Legion of Honor and then back to the Westin for the reception. This was an epic day!

Thank you Mary Anne and Lester for letting me be a part of your wonderful day! Wishing the two of you a blessed future.

And thank you Breck for letting me hang out. You rock!

I woke this morning to my two year old singing “happy mother’s day, it’s a happy day!” and it made my face and my heart smile.

So happy Mother’s Day, it’s a happy day! to all of you mothers out there. Enjoy your day, leave the dishes for the “men”, sit back and watch some Bravo on tv (or some mindless reality tv!). Enjoy your day.

I am so happy to announce that the winner to out Mother’s Day contest is Jordan and Jacob’s mom, Judy! The family is the recipients of a family session for the three of them and from that session a complimentary 11×14 from me! I can’t wait for our session.

But I don’t want the other awesome moms who were in the contest to feel left out at all. So if you were entered in the contest as a Mother’s Day thank you gift from Kristy Lynn Photography we want to give you 1/2 a family session for you and a free 8×10 from that session. Email me if you have any questions.

And just because they are so darn cute here is a picture of the winning family! Are they not adorable?

Thanks to everyone who voted. This was an awesome contest and we had well over 200 votes in the end! You guys rock.

So I have this awesome location in mind. I have actually been dreaming about doing this session for about a year now. It is the coolest location I can think of. A little bit crazy, a whole lot of fun, and quite a bit of an “adventure.”

So who is up for it? I have room for one couple to do this session with me. In exchange for the secret location (a girl has gotta have a few secrets) and the photographer (me) having a lot more of the creative control of the session you will get the session for a reduced fee and you will be pleasantly surprised by some of the products you will receive from the session. And beyond that I can guarantee that you will have a session unlike anyone that I have seen (okay just kidding really, because I just googled my idea and while I am not the first one to think of it I still think I will make it pretty RAD!)

So email me, the first engaged couple (to be married in the soon to be future – and like the date is picked and you have a ring type of this) to email gets this awesome session at a pretty awesome discount and well, what can beat that!!!!

Email me!

I announced a few weeks ago that I was going to be doing a Mother’s Day contest. I was excited to see all five entries that I got! There are some pretty awesome moms out there! I know my mom rocks but since she really can’t win my contest I have to give kudos to all the other awesome mom’s out there!

So here are the “rules”: Vote for your favorite mom (there is a picture and a one-liner that describes why that mom is so awesome!), tell your friends to come to the kristy lynn photography blog and vote for their favorite mom, post this blog entry on your facebook to remind your friends to come and vote, send an email to everyone without a facebook to tell them about it. Remember that each person only gets one vote. I can track IP addresses and can tell if there is any funny business going on. Plus, since this is all in fun, it is not cool to cheat! The fine print: anyone caught cheating will be disqualified immediately. You don’t want to take that chance!

With the rule stuff out of the way, here are the moms!

1. Nancy’s mom!

Nancy’s one-liner: My Mom, who has always given selflessly to her family, ROCKS because she his a constant force of unconditional and supportive love in the lives of me, my sister, my husband, and my two young daughters.

And the picture:

2. Jaime’s mom!

4. Krista’s mom-in-law!

Krista’s one-liner: My mother-in-law and I spent five days straight in a car together; her, me, and my two boys…..we laughed, we talked, we sang……she is loyal, caring, and doesn’t give advice unless you want it, she is the greatest mother-in-law I can imagine, and I consider her my other mommy.

5. Cristine’s mom!

It is going to be so hard to choose. All of these moms are awesome and I am proud to have each one as part of the contest!

So share away and vote and go and hug your mom, it’s the right thing to do.

I met Jeremy when he was shorter than me. I can’t say that about too many men but since I met Jeremy when he was about 8 years old, I can easily say that about him.

Yesterday Jeremy married Jamie at our old church (The Pittsburg Church of the Nazarene). It was very cool to be shooting in that location. I spent a good portion of my teenager years at that church and for a while I think I might have even been Jeremy’s youth pastor at that church. Good memories.

Jamie is gorgeous! I mean Jeremy you are not bad looking yourself but you got yourself quite the lady there. And your son Ethan is just about the most adorable thing ever.

I wish for you two a life filled with joy and love. From what I saw yesterday you two are off to an amazing start!

Here is your sneak peek! Have a blast in Mexico, I am incredibly jealous!!!

Max’s co-shot this with me. I actually used one of his images for the first one of the set. I love him (and this shot) that much.
