Baby Girl: Fremont Newborn Photographer

This little miss is the baby whose birth I got the amazing opportunity to document in this post. She was just 2 weeks when I got to go back and get some super sweet sleepy newborn images (and some awake ones too!).

Thanks so much to the L. family for inviting me into your family as you grew by one. I can’t wait for peacock play-dates!

Just Hatched: Bay Area Birth Photography

Having just experience the miracle of birth 10 weeks ago I was overjoyed to have the pleasure of capturing some of the first few moments of the L. family’s new miracle.

Freya was born just before 11:30am on Tuesday, October 26th. She beat me to the punch and arrived just moments before I got to her birth. As I arrived she was resting peacefully on mommy’s tummy. It was truly crazy because Mommy had her first labor pain just after 8am and 3 hours later Freya was here.

Totally unexpected. Big sister took quite a bit longer and was a week late. It seems as if Freya had another plan in mind. 3 days early and super short labor. Mommy was pleasantly surprised!

So while I missed the “main event” I did get to be there when mommy met Freya for the first time:

And one of the first moments big sister shared with little sister:

The head measured in at 13.5inches. WOW!

And Freya was a whopping 21.75 inches long!

I love it when mid-wives measure the weight with the old fashioned baby scale. There is just something so classic about this moment:

Finally some quite bonding time between Freya and Mommy. Just Love!

A special thanks goes out to the mid-wives who attended Freya’s birth, Beah Pederson, CNM and Jeannie Racik, MWA, from East Bay Homebirth Midwifery. They did an excellent job and made the whole experience both peaceful and beautiful!

SEVEN weeks. 7 weeks. Six plus 1 week. Insane. How is this possible? He is moments away from walking… already. haha.

No really, it has been an amazing seven weeks. We are finally getting into a routine and I am finally getting the hang of two + work + personal time, its good.

So since you haven’t seen much of him lately here are 2 of just him and one of him with brother (who is way harder to photography now, haha).

Sweet 9 months: San Francisco Baby Photographer

Miss A. is 9 months. I have had the privilege of being her photographer since the newborn days and I have to say watching this little girl grow has been so incredible. She is a baby-planner and I am so glad her mom and dad signed up for the year.

3 of one 1 of another: Personal Project

I got this amazingly beautiful blanket from a dear friend’s dear mother. I adore it. It is the perfect shade of baby blue. It is the perfect stitch too. In fact, she learned this stitch to make this blanket for Mr. Grady. I am honored to get to take pictures of it.

What I love the most about these is that you can see his beautiful blue eyes in these images. I very highly doubt they will stay blue, it is just not a strong enough part of his genetic pool to remain baby blues. For now they are blue and I love them.

And the final image is of the big brother. He is having a hard time adjusting this week. The newness has worn off and baby is here to stay. Our days are all different now and he just isn’t loving it. He still LOVES his baby brother, I think he just wishes we could send him back to the hospital from time to time, poor guy!

So thank you, thank you, thank you Karen for the awesome blanket. It is a blessing to us!!!

Day 18: Personal Project

I finally had some time to do some more pictures. I bet you will see a huge change in him in these shots. He has plumped up quite a bit. When we went to the Pediatrician on Wednesday he had already by passed his birth weight by half a pound. They want to see babies back to their birth weight by then and he exceeded that by half a pound! I am a proud momma!

Every day we have a little more awake time than the day before and we love to see how he is changing daily. He really is quite the blessing and will actually just sit and let us hold him and be content. It is amazing to have such a happy baby! Every baby is a blessing so I don’t want to compare but having a mellow baby has been the biggest blessing we could have ever dreamed of!

Well without further ado here are the images I got today. The first one is my favorite I got! And be sure to check out the little before and after at the end of the post.

Here is a straight out of the camera (sooc) version of the next image. In this one you can see the outbreak of baby acne that is plaguing him right now. Then in the second shot you can see how I fixed it. I have some mad photoshop skilz, right?!?

What a Crock: Personal Project

This pickling crock is a hand me down from my grandmother on my Mom’s side. She was an awesome lady and she pickled things too. Now I have never pickled anything but I had visions of squishing my newborn baby into this crock both to see if I could do it and to honor the legacy of my pickling Grandmother Elsie Southerland.

Grandma, I hope you are looking down from heaven smiling that your newest Great-Grandson can fit in the crock. I wish you were here to share this with us.

And now that I am crying (darn post-partum hormones) here are the pictures of my baby the pickle.

Notice the 6? Yeah it is some important marking on the crock but to me it is significant because Grady is both the 6th Grandchild on the Franks’ side of the family and he is the 6th member of our family.

Eleven Days: Personal Project

For the first time he didn’t cooperate! He had some issues on my first set up and we had to discard (well wash) the blanket I had planned to use. So we had to change courses and went for the cocoon so we could use a diaper for this mini-session. He was wide awake the entire time. And while I love those sleepy images there is something completely intriguing about the eyes of a baby. You know, they say that babies can see angels. Well the weird thing is that all through church today his eyes were wide open and he was staring at the ceiling. Maybe there is something to that old wives tale!

Without further ado here is Baby Grady and just a couple of his big brother who decided he wanted some pictures taken too. And funny side story here I asked him if he wanted some pictures taken today and he immediately took his shirt off. I think I have ruined him for life. haha!

I have taken formal pictures of Grady just about every day since birth (I missed day one and yesterday though). Here is a quick storyboard of the little guy that is a combination of pictures that Max and I took of him.
