Archive for the ‘Contests’ Category

I announced a few weeks ago that I was going to be doing a Mother’s Day contest. I was excited to see all five entries that I got! There are some pretty awesome moms out there! I know my mom rocks but since she really can’t win my contest I have to give kudos to all the other awesome mom’s out there!

So here are the “rules”: Vote for your favorite mom (there is a picture and a one-liner that describes why that mom is so awesome!), tell your friends to come to the kristy lynn photography blog and vote for their favorite mom, post this blog entry on your facebook to remind your friends to come and vote, send an email to everyone without a facebook to tell them about it. Remember that each person only gets one vote. I can track IP addresses and can tell if there is any funny business going on. Plus, since this is all in fun, it is not cool to cheat! The fine print: anyone caught cheating will be disqualified immediately. You don’t want to take that chance!

With the rule stuff out of the way, here are the moms!

1. Nancy’s mom!

Nancy’s one-liner: My Mom, who has always given selflessly to her family, ROCKS because she his a constant force of unconditional and supportive love in the lives of me, my sister, my husband, and my two young daughters.

And the picture:

2. Jaime’s mom!

Jaime’s one-liner: My Mom rocks because my kids think she’s the Greatest Grandma ever!

and the picture:

My mom Rocks

3. Jordan and Jacob’s mom!

Jordan and Jacob’s one-liner: Our mother laughs with us- and just as hard!

and the picture:

4. Krista’s mom-in-law!

Krista’s one-liner: My mother-in-law and I spent five days straight in a car together; her, me, and my two boys…..we laughed, we talked, we sang……she is loyal, caring, and doesn’t give advice unless you want it, she is the greatest mother-in-law I can imagine, and I consider her my other mommy.

5. Cristine’s mom!

Cristine’s one-liner: My mom rocks because she is always there when we need her, with time and love and fresh batch of cookies!

and the picture:

It is going to be so hard to choose. All of these moms are awesome and I am proud to have each one as part of the contest!

So share away and vote and go and hug your mom, it’s the right thing to do.

Our Mother’s Day contest voting will start tomorrow! I am so excited. We have some awesome submissions from some really great women, but there is room for more!!!

Think about your mom. Would she love it if you could win a free photo shoot and 11×14 wall portrait for her this Mother’s Day? Would she think that you were pretty much the best-est kid ever if you told the world why she rocked? Would she think that this was a way better gift than a bunch of tulips (and btw, I love tulips)?

I think we all know that the answer to the three above questions is…. YES!!!

So get on it, find a picture of your mom and send it on in with one line that describes why your mom is the best-est mom in the world! Can’t wait to hear from you!

mother's day contest

Mother’s day is on its way. I love Mother’s day. I love it because I am am “mommy” and because I love my “mommy” and well just the whole motherhood ordeal really deserves to be celebrated.

And here is your chance to win your mom a free session and 11×14 print from that session (that’s a $290 prize!):

So get out that photo album and send in your contest applications to kristy@kristylynnphotography.com! Can’t wait to hear from you!!

I love this time of the year. I am inspired more than ever to see the potential in people and the good in humanity. I am drawn into happy endings and love beyond imagination. And I am compelled to be more giving than feels comfortable. I do not say this to toot my own horn in any way. Trust me I can be as un-grace-filled as Scrooge at times, but I have the desire to be giving and loving and grace-filled. So I sat down and started to dream about what I could do to “give back” for the amazing gift that this past year has been for me. And that was when I hatched this plan.

I am going to give away a day of wedding photography to a deserving couple. You might ask, “what do you mean by deserving”? And my answer is that the couple who receive this will have an incredible story. They will be the kind of people who radiate love and hope and peace and joy even though if you looked at their journey you would expect everything but. I don’t want to be too much more specific than that because I want this to be open to lots of different stories.

So here is what the day will include. Up to 8 hours of wedding coverage by myself and my assistant/second shooter (my wonderful husband!), DVD of the high resolution images from the wedding, and a $500 album credit after the wedding is completed. I will also throw in an engagement session to happen in January 2010! (this is over $4000 in wedding coverage)

And here are the specifics. Your entry will be your story. Please email your story to me at kristy@kristylynnphotography.com no later than December 10, 2009. From there a winning couple will be chosen on Christmas Eve and announced on this blog. When you email your story please be as descriptive of who the two of your are as possible. Include how you met, how you fell in love, what obstacle you have overcome, how this love and journey has changed the two of you. Optimally both of you will contribute to the story you write in your own special way. I would love to be able to really get a feel for the two of you in your story.

Beyond that, you must have already chosen a wedding date in 2010 and it cannot occur on a date that I already have booked for 2010 (I will email as soon as I receive your story if there is a scheduling conflict). Previously contracted wedding couples by Kristy Lynn Photography or any other photographer are not allowed to send their story. You will be required to sign a contract with Kristy Lynn Photography if you are the winning couple and the gift will not be transferable and has no monetary value. Please take the utmost care to be completely honest in your story. And one final thing, the wedding must take place in the greater San Francisco Bay area. Weddings outside of this area will incur a travel fee.

Thanks for reading this and I can’t wait to read your stories! Seriously!!!

And since every post is just beyond better with a picture here is another image from my recent engagement session in downtown St. Helena with Sam and Brent one of my 2010 wedding couples. I love them, I really do.

First of all let me start out by saying that I LOVE my clients. I have the best clients ever. No kidding, the past few months have been so amazing. I have been growing so much and I know that a lot of it can be attributed to my awesome clients.

So looking back I realized it was time for another blog contest! I love these because it is fun to look back and remember these sessions.

With every one of my contests there are always prizes. Everyone is a winner in my book, but this is a fun friendly way to highlight the best images from each session and to gift a little extra to the family with the most votes at the end. This time the prize is going to be really awesome. Check out this flyer:

holiday minisession 2009

It is getting to be the time where we have to think about our Holiday cards. I know, I know it is only the end of July. But the dates fill up fast so planning ahead is the best way to ensure that you will have that perfect shot for your Holiday card. And the lucky winner of this contest will be sure to have that perfect shot because the winner will be receiving a free mini-session on the date of their choice (out of the three dates listed)! Isn’t that an awesome prize!!! In the case that the client who is the winner is a long distance from me, the winner will receive the cards and prints from the previous session that we had together.

And for the rest of you, whether you are just visiting the site to cast your vote, or you are one of the clients in the contest, or you are just a random passer-byer who is looking for a photographer to capture your memories, these mini-sessions are a great way to make sure your Holiday cards are the talk of the town. Email me at kristy@kristylynnphotography.com if you are interested in booking one of the sessions or have any questions, can’t wait to hear from you.

And on to the contest! The voting is set up that you may only vote once from each computer. So the challenge is to get as many friends and family involved as you can (Facebook is a great tool for this, there is a link below the images to post this to your site). The voting will continue for one week from today and I will contact the winner to notify them of their prize!

And without further ado, here are the images.

My baby is growing up. I know that it is an inevitable fact of life that we get older, but for a mama it is hard. I have been doing great with it though. For the most part the past few months have been un-momentous. Like so un-momentous that the month “birthday” would pass and I would think about it like 5 days later. It was something like, “oh, hey Max, did you realize that Sawyer turned 19 months 6 days ago…weird.”

But this month is different. He is entering the 20’s of months. He is 4 months away from TWO years old. All that  used to remain of babyhood is fading. FAST. And he learns about 7 new words a day.

He mimics everything I say, in fact. Like the other day I was saying, “hey, you!” and he said, “ha ou.” So cute. So heartwarming. So tearjerking.

I love him.

So I attempted some day in the life type stuff with him. I love to do this. Get down on his level. Have him play with is favorite toys. Have him wear a very familiar outfit for him. Ahhhh…

Today is 7-8-9.

July 8, 2009

What a crazy day! And since I am one for celebrating just about anything (the anniversary of the day you lost your first tooth, the day you bought your first ipod…) I am definitely one for celebrating a day as momentous as this. A day that will not arrive again for 100 years!

Seven.Eight.Nine.

Yay!

So, you who are still reading this… the first one of you who comments on this blog (and lives within 20 miles of 94596) then you will get a free session from me! Yay! A free session. That is awesome for a few different reasons. A. I don’t don’t offer free sessions, like ever, anymore AND B. that is a $100 value for you!

I am serious about this celebrating stuff.

Again, a very cool post is never complete with out a pretty picture. This is one from a session a while ago and I choose it for today because this girl knows how to celebrate!

* The Fine Print. Comment must come today, 7-8-09, and session must take place before August 31, 2009. Thanks!

I have made it a seasonal tradition here at kristy lynn photography to highlight some of my favorite images from my sessions and give my awesome clients an opportunity to win some loot. And Spring 2009 is no different. So here it is, you have been sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for it, the sleepless nights spent agonizing in anticipation can now cease. I am officially announcing the beginning of my Spring Blog Contest!

So here is the deal, you vote. Once per computer. I would have tried to make it so you can vote daily but that poll program does not exist in my world. So the rules are that you get one vote per computer (I have some pretty technologically advanced IP address monitoring and I will be watching for any kind of funny business!).

What does this mean for you? Well if you want to win this contest you either need to go out and buy a ton of computers OR you have to email your friends and family and strangers and people you have met once and tell them about this awesome contest.  I never said it was going to be easy but I do promise it will be worth it. By the way the voting will continue until June 1, 2009 so you have plenty of time to bug everyone you know as well to make sure that they cast their vote.

In the past I have only given prizes to the first place winner of the contest. And, well, I just don’t think that it is cool that only one person wins. So… for this contest there will be multiple winners (you are all winners in my book though) and multiple prizes.

Prizes? You say. Yes, PRIZES! YAY prizes!

1st place will receive a free future session and $150 print credit to go with it. Yep that is a prize valued at $250. Crazy amazing, right?

2nd place will receive 16×20 wall print of their choice from their session (a $130 value).

3rd place will receive an 11×14 wall print of their choice from their session (a $90 value).

So here are the images that are up for your consideration. Happy voting!

I wish I could say that my 4 men were all enthralled reading my most recent blog post, or even enthralled as they were perusing my website and it’s various galleries. While they are all in great support of my passion and love for photography, they are not looking with awe at my work here. No, they are looking (glued) to youtube. In fact here I believe that they were watching, “The Best Cat Video You Will Ever See.” And while snapping a few images of them, I got a chance to take a look, and I gotta tell you, it was pretty darn funny.

I wanted to give you this little glimpse into my life. You know, it is really these moments that we will treasure when we get old. When our kids have all moved away. When we have moved away from friends. When the enevitable happens. It is the small moments that make up each day that will fill our hearts with inmeasureable love and peace.

So take time each day to treasure the moments. I promise that you won’t regret it.

And here the “business” part of this random post. I am going to be having a new blog contest coming up really soon. So stay tuned for the details, my friends. It is going to be a good one!

Blessings,

kristy lynn

Mr. N is the son of a photographer friend of mine. He is a.dor.a.ble. So cute. And so much fun to hang out with.

I had the privileged of flying to upstate New York to second shoot a wedding with my friend Wendy (Wendy Mitchell Photography) and I had a great time. But before I left for the airport I had to take some shots of Mr. N and his morning routine.

Thanks Wendy for the weekend. I will post the sneak peek for the wedding in a day or so! But until then here is the a.dor.a.ble Mr. N.
