This is Max’s first blog post! I am so proud of him and the images that he is creating for me and for you guys! I had to let him share a little. Here’s Max…

LeeAnna and Andy are quite the couple.  Andy rides a Harley…a mostly blacked out Harley.  I like Harleys…therefore the bro-love is kinda there by default.  LeeAnna has a super-soft heart for children and thats super-buddy material in by book thanks to my 3 (soon to be 4) kids.   They made each other laugh a lot and that made Kristy and I smile a lot.  Smilings my favorite!

I met these two when Kristy did their faux-gagement shoot a few years ago.  I felt pretty good going into this session because I wanted to try some new things and these two made it really easy thanks to the history.  Kristy edited these 4 and I edited the next one(s).  I hope I’m available to help with their wedding later this year.  Mucho congratulations you two!

Thanks for looking and enjoy!

And Max LOVES doing ring shots. LeeAnna’s diamond is a black diamond (same as Carrie’s in SATC2, haha). I think it is so freaking cool!

blog2bAnd like always you can leave Max some love or LeeAnna and Andy!

You might recognize these two. Back in the day, when I just just just starting out they were brave and let me practice on them. What is so cute about it is that they were just just just starting out in their relationship too. We joked that it was a tiny bit awkward last time when she asked him, “babe, will you take faux engagement pictures with me?”. Talk about bringing up the “M” word! haha.

But it worked out for them. A few years later and they are gettin’ hitched (like my ranch talk there?) this October! And I am so excited to be their photographer. I can’t wait.

We went to Borges Ranch for these. The knotty oak trees were abounding, the hills were still a tiny bit green, and it was hotter than heck when we started out. I can’t believe it has gone from a high of 62 and rainy to 90 degrees and blazing in like two days. CRAZY!!!

Thanks to you LeeAnna and Andy for being game for all our ideas. Here is my sneak peek from yesterday. Keep an eye out in the next few days for a second sneak peek from Max. He did so awesome as the second for this engagement session that he earned himself his own sneak peek. yay!

blog5Feel free to share you heart out on Facebook and if you leave me a comment I will buy you a cookie (well maybe not but I will want to buy you a cookie!).

These two are getting married on a very coveted day. October 10, 2010 (10-10-10). Chad thinks is great because it will be impossible to forget. Ashley things it is great because she is beyond excited to marry the love of her life (well Chad thinks it is great for that reason too!). I think it is great because I couldn’t imagine spending that day with anyone else. It is just great all the way around.

These two are in LOVE! Like the kind of love that helps you remember what it is to be in love. I gotta tell you. Before we met up with them, Max and I had bickered a little that day. Not the “I want to slam your hand in a door” type of bicker but the “dear Lord, why is he/she so irritating today” kind of bicker. After hanging out with Ashley and Chad for a few hours we were done bickering for the day. We stopped and got pizza at one of our favorite pizza places in the city (Pizza Orgasmica. yes it is that good) and we ended our bickering day with a rather nice date.

So thanks Ashley and Chad. Thanks for sharing your love with us. Thanks for letting me broadcast your love to my blog readers. And thanks for having me be your wedding photographer. I can’t wait for your day!

Max took this next shot. I am so proud!! I love it.

blog6

I love this time of the year. I am inspired more than ever to see the potential in people and the good in humanity. I am drawn into happy endings and love beyond imagination. And I am compelled to be more giving than feels comfortable. I do not say this to toot my own horn in any way. Trust me I can be as un-grace-filled as Scrooge at times, but I have the desire to be giving and loving and grace-filled. So I sat down and started to dream about what I could do to “give back” for the amazing gift that this past year has been for me. And that was when I hatched this plan.

I am going to give away a day of wedding photography to a deserving couple. You might ask, “what do you mean by deserving”? And my answer is that the couple who receive this will have an incredible story. They will be the kind of people who radiate love and hope and peace and joy even though if you looked at their journey you would expect everything but. I don’t want to be too much more specific than that because I want this to be open to lots of different stories.

So here is what the day will include. Up to 8 hours of wedding coverage by myself and my assistant/second shooter (my wonderful husband!), DVD of the high resolution images from the wedding, and a $500 album credit after the wedding is completed. I will also throw in an engagement session to happen in January 2010! (this is over $4000 in wedding coverage)

And here are the specifics. Your entry will be your story. Please email your story to me at kristy@kristylynnphotography.com no later than December 10, 2009. From there a winning couple will be chosen on Christmas Eve and announced on this blog. When you email your story please be as descriptive of who the two of your are as possible. Include how you met, how you fell in love, what obstacle you have overcome, how this love and journey has changed the two of you. Optimally both of you will contribute to the story you write in your own special way. I would love to be able to really get a feel for the two of you in your story.

Beyond that, you must have already chosen a wedding date in 2010 and it cannot occur on a date that I already have booked for 2010 (I will email as soon as I receive your story if there is a scheduling conflict). Previously contracted wedding couples by Kristy Lynn Photography or any other photographer are not allowed to send their story. You will be required to sign a contract with Kristy Lynn Photography if you are the winning couple and the gift will not be transferable and has no monetary value. Please take the utmost care to be completely honest in your story. And one final thing, the wedding must take place in the greater San Francisco Bay area. Weddings outside of this area will incur a travel fee.

Thanks for reading this and I can’t wait to read your stories! Seriously!!!

And since every post is just beyond better with a picture here is another image from my recent engagement session in downtown St. Helena with Sam and Brent one of my 2010 wedding couples. I love them, I really do.

I met up with Samantha and Brent at the Frank Family Vineyard at the tippy top of the vineyard strip along hwy 29. I don’t know if I had ever been that far north on 29 but the trek was totally worth it!

As I was driving along through the valley the first thing I had noticed is that the vines had gone from green to reddish/orangeish/yellowish magnificence. Autumn is gorgeous in the valley. You may not have millions of trees in this area giving off the amazing color but you have millions of rows of glorious color. It is truly a sight to see.

The vines at the Frank Family Vineyard did not disappoint either. They were gorgeous. It was a fun challenge to blend the love that Samantha and Brent naturally showed with the beauty of the vineyard.

I am privileged to get to be Sam and Brent’s wedding photographer next summer. I can’t wait to see you in your dress Sam. And I can’t wait to capture that first moment when you guys see each other for the first time on that day. You two are pretty much a blast to hang around with. I kind of got the feeling that we could have been friends for years. And that is ALWAYS a good sign when it comes to a photography relationship! If you are a regular blog viewer you will notice that these two pulled out quite a bit of playfulness out of me! I even threw in a fun little animation at the end there. I think it shows off their personalities perfectly.

Hope you love ‘em! I will be in touch soon.

I have known Scott for *years*. I actually don’t remember how long I have known him because I have known him for different things. I can’t remember if he was a friend of a friend first or if he was the guy who had my job before me first or if he was that guy I met while I was working at summer camp. What I do remember is that he was is one of the friendliest guys I know. So when I found out that he was engaged to Shannon I knew that I HAD to do that wedding. And I am excited privileged to say that they have chosen me to be their wedding photographer when they say their I do’s in January.

We met up at the Point Lobos State Reserve (gorgeous place!!!) and the first thing I notice about these two is that they are cute. I mean really cute. Like the kind of cute that makes you want to be cuter. At one point when I was working with them on posing on a bench they were sitting side by side and so I asked them to get into a comfortable position. I mentioned that they might want to just sit as they would sit if there wasn’t a photographer there and Shannon quickly said, “oh I would be sitting like this.” And she jumped up to sit on Scott’s lap. That kind of cute. The kind of cute that reminds you of new love and wanting to spend every moment with your loved one as close as possible.

I admire that kind of cuteness. And I am excited to share these images with my blog readers and Scott and Shannon. I can’t wait for January and I am secretly praying for a day as gorgeous as yesterday was, although in January it is a little bit of a long shot. Have a great rest of your weekend and I will be in touch soon!

Nichole and Gordon are getting married in October at one of the most beautiful locations in the Bay Area. And I am beyond super excited and privileged to be their wedding photographer. We met up yesterday at the De Young Museum in Golden Gate Park for a bright and sunny session ending up with a gorgeous sunset overlooking the Pacific ocean. What we got was fog, fog, and more fog! In fact when we got there it apparently wasn’t foggy enough so as we were walking around the fog decided to descend upon us even more. Being an East Bay person I kind of felt like it was January. I thought about curling up by a fire with a “Snuggie” and a cup of hot cocoa.

But Nichole and Gordon were unfazed. This is life. And the weather fit their personalities perfectly. You can describe me as not quite mellow but by the end of the session, their mellowness had rubbed off on me quite a bit. And I liked it. So much in love, simply. Loving looks came effortlessly. And capturing that love on camera was not very difficult at all.

Nichole and Gordon thanks so much for the awesome evening stroll in your “back yard”. I can’t wait for your wedding in a few months. Here is your sneak peek and I will be in touch soon!

Abby is an almost life long friend of mine. Pretty much all of my adolescent memories include her in some way, and man do I have some stories for you Will.

Will is the love of her life. Gosh, I get a little teary eyed even typing that.

After spending the day with the two of you I was blessed beyond belief to have been surrounded by your love for those brief hours. It is life in full circle. Abby and I would spend countless hours thinking, praying, hoping for the day when we found true love. It sounds cliche, but I do believe that neither one of us every gave up hope that we would both find what God had in store for us.

And she did, she found him. It was pretty amazing the chemistry that these two have. The gentle back and forth banter that showed that they both had jumped full force into this love. The look of excitement that was on both of their faced when we talked about October 17, 2010, oops I mean 2009. And the casual way that both of them gracefully reached for the others hand about 90% of the time we were together.

Blog readers, if you haven’t already figured it out, I am a fan of love. And so I couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend last night or really any night than being around these two. So much in love. So perfect for each other. Here is your sneak peek my friends. Talk soon!

And this is a special treat for me to share with you. My husband, Max, assisted me on this session for the first time ever. He has been nursing a love for photography for a few months now. We decided that there was no better audition for being an assistant of mine than to just jump right on in.

Thank you, Max, for coming along and for seeing things that I don’t. I love you!

How much fun is love? It is immeasurable. How much fun is a Giants game? It is pretty immeasurable too! So can you imagine how much fun I had this weekend as I hung out with two of the most in love people I have seen in a while. I think that we laughed during the “session” part of this day more than I have laughed in a long time. Then to top off a very cool photography session we got to stil back and enjoy the game from 18 rows above the Giants dugout. Um, that is how I say, “AWESOME.”

And just to make you a little but more jealous (sorry), here was our view of the game:

Back to our story… Amy and Marv are, like I said, incredibly happy in love. They are getting married this August and I have the incredible privileged to be their wedding photographer. I just can’t believe I am so lucky. Back when they were first starting their journey together Amy kind of turned Marv onto the love of The Giants. It almost seems like their love for baseball and for each other compliments each other well. And it is for sure that Amy and Marv compliment each other very well.

So thanks to you Amy and Marv for the awesome day at the ballpark. Thanks for the laughs. And most of all thanks for sharing your love with me and my camera. Here is your sneak peek! Can’t wait for August!!!

And I particularly think this is funny because the game hadn’t even started yet, haha!

I finished editing all the images from M. and J’s engagement session. And there were a few in there that I fell in love with. I played a lot with silhouettes for this shoot and this was my favorite from our session.

And then I got this shot as well, and I just love it!

Every once in a while a session is so much fun and the settings all around us are so beautiful that I just have to share more. Thanks M. and J. for your beautiful session!
